Client

Beautiful Trouble is a US-based non-profit organisation focused on leveraging creative tactics to address pressing global issues. Their mission includes mobilising public attention and action through innovative campaigns, often collaborating with local and international partners to maximise impact.

Challenge

In the lead-up to COP26, Beautiful Trouble approached us with a unique and high-visibility project: the installation of a Climate Clock on the historic Tolbooth Tower in central Glasgow. The key challenges were:

  • High-Profile Installation: The Climate Clock needed to be prominently displayed on an iconic landmark, requiring meticulous planning and execution to ensure both technical and aesthetic success.
  • Complex Logistics and Coordination: Given the project’s prominence and the involvement of various stakeholders, including Climate Clock and Glasgow City Council, we had to manage complex logistics, including security and traffic safety.
  • Technical Innovation: The clock required a custom-made API to track and update “lifeline” and “deadline” numbers without relying on a continuous internet connection.

Outcome

Production Live delivered a successful installation and management of the Climate Clock, achieving several key outcomes:

  • Seamless Installation and Operation: We managed all technical aspects, including the setup, maintenance, and content updates of the Climate Clock. Our team also handled photography and video coverage to document the installation. The clocked synced up perfectly with the NYC clock, without the need for an internet connection.
  • Effective Coordination: We worked closely with Glasgow City Council and other UK partners to ensure smooth logistics, security, and local traffic management. This collaboration was crucial in achieving the project’s objectives without disruption.
  • Media Coverage and Impact: The Climate Clock gained significant attention and was featured in both local and national press, highlighting its impact and visibility during the COP26 summit.

Media Coverage
